TERRIER named Rag in the story. This is the story of Charley Moss, a 12-year-old
boy in the Suburban Community of Arlington Heights in 1945. Charley finds himself
excluded from the class play and even though he finds a friend, he feels that the
whole town is against him.

book recounts their adventures with their master in the wilderness.
- THE HARLANDS GO HUNTING By PHYLLIS I. NORRIS, illustrated by MARJORIE HAYES.
Published in London by THOMAS NELSON AND SONS Ltd.1951.223 pg text. A story about
the Harland girls who go hunting not on horseback but by car to search for Sam,
a stolen Airedale terrier dog. Their findings lead them to Devonshire, where they
take a job in a kennel in order to snuff out the dog thieves. Four full page b/w
drawings within the text.
- HONORARY DOG By Dora Wright - Line drawings by Julie Styles. Throughout the
text there are a number of black and white pen drawings by Julie Styles of dogs,
particularly the Airedale. Honorary Dog is the author's witty, honest and informative

- PAL: THE STORY OF AN AIREDALE By Alexandra C. Jenkins This is a charming
fiction tale about the life and times of a saucy, confident young Airedale named
"Pal." It is dedicated to "The long thin 'cuss' with the nice grin",
and published in 1930 by D. Appleton and Company, New York. Pal is one of a number
of dogs living in a pet shop and destined for new homes. When a young couple drops
by to select a pet, the Bulldog, German Shepherd and Pekingese are all equally certain
that they will be selected. Pal's grin grows, however, when he hears the woman say,
"I want an AIREDALE." The book has lovely illustrated endpapers, illustrations
throughout by well-known children's book illustrator Kurt Wiese (these are among
his earliest!), and is 96 pages long.

- WALKING WITH MY AIREDALE By Donald Millar This book is about various walks
in England that Donald has had with his Airedales over the years. It is very interesting
reading & is illustrated by the well-known artist Ann Curran. There are also
some super photographs of some of the places that he visited on the walks together
with some historic facts of the area.
Poems
- KARLO DOG (AN AIREDALE) By D A Leonard and illustrated by the late Derek
Crowe. A collection of delightful and often humorous poems of the author's Airedale
dog as he traveled in Sicily and England. The reader will discover the affectionate
relationship between the poet, his wife and their lively doggy companion. The delectable
illustrations are by the late Derek Crowe (1988) who knew and loved KARLO.
